There are many companies that provide lifeline cellular to people with low income, but in my opinion Safelink gives you the best plan. Tracfone like many cellular companies resell AT&T, Verizon, and T-mobile. In Nevada County they will send you a T-mobile SIM card by default. If you need AT&T, or Verizon you can call and get them to send you a new AT&T or Verizon SIM card. If you would prefer to use your existing phone instead of the cheap smart phone they send you, you can opt for the BYOD option.
Lifeline is the federal program that subsidizes phone service for people with low income. It was created quite a while ago for land line phones. Safelink offers that plus the new $50 pandemic subsidy for internet by removing the data limit.
